Cherry pie is a pie baked with a cherry filling. Traditionally, it is made with sour cherries rather than sweet cherries. Morello cherries are one of the most common kinds of cherry used, but other varieties such as the black cherry may also be used.

Here is a basic recipe!

Ingredients

- 1.5 lbs fresh, sour cherries, or three (14.5 oz) cans sour cherrie

- 3/4 Cup granulated sugar

- 2 Tablespoons lemon juice

- 1/3 Cup cornstarch

- 2 Tablespoons butter

- 1/2 Teaspoon ground cinnamon

- Homemade pie crust, (this recipe makes 2 crusts: one for the bottom and one for the top)

- 1 Large egg white, , beaten with a fork

- Granulated sugar, , for sprinkling on top
